Conversation, Connection, Reinvention
Julz Vitality is a gracious and generous host. I shared insights and observations from my life and business, recovering from cancer and how to feel the best when life takes a detour.
It was a gift to share the stage with Julz and Jamie Gilleland. We three J’s have learned how to listen to our intuition, act, and create boundaries that help us give our best and look after our clients and ourselves.
Women have a tendency to give too much and can often become worn out. All three of us needed to rest, learn how life is when we created a balance between giving and having time for ourselves. It was a revelation and, as a result, focusing on health in our minds and bodies shifted our habits.
Solving the problems we see, feel, and name can really be a valuable lesson that translates into every aspect of life and business.
Workout to Win
Julz, Jamie and I committed to choose what we do looking at the results, reverse engineering our activities for the win, keeping routines, and being happier.
Each one of us has a sustainable practice for physical health, mental health, and refocusing.
Resilience is key to longevity.
Asking for help is the mirror to giving support.
Reducing the friction between idea to action is the biggest change I made post-cancer. I mention one of the most impactful book in my library, Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg, PhD. Small steps lead to big results.
Habits are shortcuts and allow you to be honest. Remove the blocks that are holding you back.

Conversation filled with Compassion or Criticism?
What are you saying to yourself today? Are you speaking with critical, punishing words, or are you celebrating joy and intention? Being kind to yourself radiates love in the world. I am learning to be mindful of my inner dialog and replacing the negative self-talk with appreciation and empathy. Especially when things go wonky, giving space for grace matters.
What Matters?
After you listen in to our conversation, take a few minutes for reflection. Pick one thing you heard and will implement for yourself. Feeling good is addictive. It is why I workout consistently and choose to eat fresh from the garden goodness.
Let me know what moves you to be kind to yourself. Build habits that stick by removing the friction in taking action. Reduce your next step to the smallest increment and get a win. Then, do it again, and again.
