"Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start."
-Nido qubein—H. Stanley judd Tweet

I love this quote. A friend shared it with me and it landed.
Following two weeks of meetings, conversations, webinars, lots of interactivity, took a toll on me. The source of my discomfort surfaced: I was putting too many things on my list of things to do and not allowing any time to process. As a someone who can get overloaded if I don’t have time alone. my body and mind rebelled, leaving me with a headache, tight gut and jaw.
Depleted. Everything seemed impossible to accomplish. Time for reframing and making things doable.
Look at this quote in detail:
Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go. They merely determine where you start.

This quote puts life into perspective.
Begin Now
If you’re an author, maybe you don’t have an email list or a website, or something else you think you need to be successful. I remember when my friend, the late Joel Friedlander, author of the Self-Publishers Companion, started his blog. He had zero subscribers. He create long-form blogs, around 1,000 words, every day for three years when he hit a tipping point. His influence and subscription base grew and grew. His blog became so popular, he could sell advertising, enlist guest posts, attract joint venture partnerships, and he got booked around the world as a speaker. Not bad. And I know for a fact, he started out with no subscribers. He succeeded be cause he was constantly looking at how best to serve his audience, quality information, and generosity. The blog turned into the book, and he went on to co-create products that have helped thousands of self-publishers around the world.
What ever you don’t have now, you can start here
Do you need an author profile? It could be you don’t have enough book reviews. It could be, that you don’t know how to do something, the technology is new or unfamiliar to you. Instead of panicking or giving up, reframe to say:
I don’t know how to do it yet!
And if you can stay in the beginner mind, you don’t have to be perfect, you are learning something new.
“Oh, here I am today. I have written a book. I know how to ask questions. I know how to do research.”
Think of all the things you do know, and from here, you’re gonna start here and maybe go there, or maybe you’re here.
It doesn’t matter. You’re gonna start where you are and go to the next point on your map.
